The Power Of Ten Project - (The P-10 Project)
Students for “Rehumanization”

Ten simple steps to encourage students to reach out and “humanize.”

Step 1 - SELECT a Power of Ten Project committee - One group leader and 10 individuals (or more) who will promote the Power of Ten Project (ASB, Leadership class, or other group).

Step 2 - DOWNLOAD all Power of Ten Project information from the Wenatchee High School web site.
- Forms -
- Administration approval form (to be signed by principal)
- ASB approval form (to be signed by student government/accounting)
- Excused Forms (for students projecting video on P-10 day)
- Administrator script (to be read by administrator the last minute of school day prior to P-10 day.)
- Teacher info sheet (to be read by all teachers on the morning of P-10 day.)
- Info Sheets for P-10 volunteers to provide info to students on P-10 day.
- Television reservation request (to reserve televisions for P-10 day)
- Canister/envelope wraps (for collecting funds)
- "I REHUMANIZED" card to give to contributors.
- Power of 10 Project checklist (to make sure all steps have been taken.)

Video -
- Power of Ten Project video - to be shown on P-10 day (participating schools will determine the number of DVDs to create).

Step 3 - CONTACT School Administrator/School government to get approval for participation in the P-10 Project (using downloaded forms.)

Step 4 - SELECT a Power of Ten Project day to project the video in the halls and commons area of participating schools (before, during passing times, after school).

Step 5 - FILL OUT and distribute accordingly:
- Excused forms for students projecting video on P-10 day
- Administrator script to be read by administrator the last minute of school day prior to P-10 day
- Teacher info sheet to be read by all teachers on the morning of P-10 day
- Info sheets for P-10 volunteers to provide info to students on P-10 day
- Television reservation request, to reserve televisions for P-10 day
- Canister/envelope wraps, for collecting funds
- "I REHUMANIZED" card to give to contributors
- Power of 10 Project checklist, to make sure all steps have been taken

Step 6 - CREATE at least 10 collection canisters/envelopes using wraps provided on the P-10 project website to prepare for projection/collection day.

Step 7 - PROJECT video on Power of Ten Project day, and collect donations.

Step 8 - REQUEST contact information for ten other schools (list provided by Wenatchee High School in order to avoid duplication.) Extend a personal invitation to participate in the Power of Ten Project.

Step 9 - FORWARD donations to the 'UNICEF's Unite for Children. Unite against AIDS campaign' Philanthropies Account at Wenatchee High School.

Step 10 - ADD participating school’s name and amount donated to the Power of Ten Online “WE REHUMANIZED” list.

A boy writes “papa” and other words on the blackboard as part of his lessons at La Maison Arc-en-Ciel (Rainbow House) in the Boutiliers neighbourhood of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.

The UNICEF-supported orphanage provides food, shelter, medicine, education and psychosocial care for children who are living with or have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Since the shelter was established, 55 children have been admitted, 16 have died and three have been returned to their extended families. The shelter currently houses 36 children, of whom 26 are HIV-positive and 17 receive ARV therapy.
