Who: Students and school staff who believe in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

What: A nationwide fundraiser to benefit UNICEF's Unite for Children. Unite against AIDS campaign.

Why: The need is great. Children are dying from HIV/AIDS-related illnesses every minute of every day.

How: Participate in The Power of Ten Project in your school.

Bhagya, 28, who is HIV-positive, holds her newborn child, in V.V. Hospital, in Bangalore, capital of the state of Karnataka. The HIV status of her child is not known.

UNICEF is working with the Government and other partners to develop expanded educational programs that offer PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission) counselling in government hospitals. These services include: access to HIV testing for women; counselling on methods to reduce the risk of HIV-positive women passing the virus to their newborns; and access to antiretroviral medications.
